Our dog loves to watch ducks and luckily we live nearby ‘Die Vlei’ where plenty of them and other winged animals live. During the weekend of October 6 there is the traditional annual bird fair in Stanford and this year the organizers try to get everything out of it. The local municipality is even constructing a bird watchers jetty in ‘Die Vlei’. Besides the bird related festivities there are many other events planned for that weekend including those for children and food and wine lovers.
A heartbreaking story of a Mother: I love it here.
It doesn’t cost you a penny but it’s a great idea: starting your own Local Food Heroes in you area. Initiated in Stanford, South Africa, with the idea that this movement should go accross the globe.
Buy only fresh locally produced food. Get a group of mindliking producers in your area together and start your own Local Food Heroes. Look into the link (mentioned above) and see that it works. Here in our village it’s a great success with the local supermarket selling less and less pre-processed food and plastic wrapped veggies from all over (except from the own area).
And the meat is sourced from free ranging animals without adding conservatives!
And that’s what you taste!
